Antony-Gabriella Cavallin Physical Assault Case: Manchester United star dropped from Brazil team

Manchester United star Antony has faced expulsion from the Brazil squad after allegations of assault on his former partner Gabriella Cavallin.

Gabriel Cavallin, Antony's former girlfriend, made serious allegations of physical assault on Antony on Monday (September 4).

In an interview with the Brazilian website UOL, Gabriela Cavallin claims she was attacked by Antony "with a headbutt" in a Manchester hotel room on January 15, leaving her with a cut head that needed treatment from a doctor.

Cavallin also says she was punched in her chest by Antony once, which required corrective surgery for one of her silicon breast implants in her native country.

Another alleged incident is claimed to have taken place at a house on May 8, with Cavallin saying she suffered a cut finger while trying to protect herself, accusing Brazil international Antony of throwing a glass cup towards her as well as then taking her passport.

Cavallin is said to have filed a report to the Sao Paulo Civil Police concerning allegations of physical and verbal abuse by Antony while on holiday in Brazil during June 2022, when she was pregnant, as well as making a separate complaint to Greater Manchester Police (GMP).

And amid this, the Brazilian national team has decided to drop Antony from their latest squad. The Manchester United winger was in the original squad for the Selecao in the upcoming World Cup qualification matches against Bolivia and Peru.

"In order to safeguard the alleged victim, the player, the Brazilian national team and the CBF, the organization informs that Antony has been removed from the Brazilian national team," a statement released by the Brazil Football Federation read.

Antony also took to social media and denied any physical assault allegations, but admitted the pair had a toxic relationship and there used to be verbal spats.

The former Ajax player took to Instagram and labelled Cavallin's claim as 'false accusations.'

This is the second Manchester United player who has been accused of assault to their former partners in recent years. Formerly, Mason Greenwood was accused of the same but he was judged innocent after the judicial procedure.
