Manchester United and Arsenal set to battle for top striker - Who is ahead in the Race?

Manchester United and Arsenal are in contention to sign Victor Osimhen as the Napoli striker has pinpointed the next chapter in his career.

According to the Daily Mail, the Nigerian ace has made up his mind about his future club, but the final decision remains cloaked in mystery. Despite interest from Manchester United, Chelsea, and Arsenal, it is uncertain which English powerhouse will secure his services.

Osimhen Benzema

Arsenal and Man United want Osimhen

Manchester United have been keeping tabs on Osimhen for a long time, but the Red Devils are currently behind in the race for Osimhen's signature. Erik Ten Hag is a long term admirer but Osimhen can be a tricky character to deal, and the Dutch manager has had his fair share of feuds already at the club.

Reports have stated that Arsenal are keen on having Osimhen at the club and Mikel Arteta's project is something which entices the striker. The Nigerian is also going to fit in well in Arsenal's system and with the current emergence of the Gunners, North London can be Osimhen's destination come summer.

Benzema deal is OFF for Man United, Arsenal

Another blow has come to the Red Devils in their quest for former Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema, who is poised to leave Saudi Arabia after a fallout with Al Ittihad.

As per Sky Sports, Manchester United have refused to continue talks to obtain Karim Benzema due to "exorbitant" sums being sought for the 36-year-old, The Frenchman has been linked with a move away from Al Ittihad and he doesn't want to join any other Saudi club. Although his exit looks inevitable, it is to be seen which suitor will be in accordance with Benzema's salary demands.

To play in Europe, Benzema will have to take a massive pay cut, and the former Real Madrid player is reluctant at the moment. The Red Devils are interested in a short-term loan deal for the French striker, but his huge wage demands are proving to be a hurdle for the Premier League giants.

Arsenal were also linked with a move for the veteran striker, but they have also cooled their interest in him. Arsenal are now being tipped to sign a defender before the closure of the January Transfer Window.
