Tottenham defender Danny Rose close to Manchester United move

Bengaluru, December 6: Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United are reportedly confident of signing Danny Rose in a £50million deal.

Manchester United tried to sign the left-back over the summer but saw their efforts derailed by his injury and Kyle Walker's move to rivals Manchester City.

The Daily Mail claims that the Old Trafford chief Mourinho expects to complete the big-money switch for the Spurs star full-back by the summer even if he fails in January.

The left-back position has been an issue for United for quite some time with Luke Shaw seemingly heading for the exit after failing to fulfil his potential.

Matteo Darmian had been Mourinho's preferred option before falling down the pecking order. Both Daley Blind and Marcos Rojo can also both operate on the left of defence but Ashley Young has emerged as the shock solution having done really well of late.

The converted winger was only second to Liverpool star Mohamed Salah in the race for the Player of the Month in the month of November.

Even though Young closes in on an England recall after balancing solid defensive displays with an attacking threat but, Mourinho wants a natural left-back to improve his team despite the England international's good display.

The 27-year-old is yet to hit top form after a long-term lay-off but has been one of the league's top left-backs over the past few seasons and his credentials are well-known.

A move to Manchester United move would net the England defender a huge pay rise but Old Trafford chiefs would have to come close to the record fee for an English defender rivals City paid for Walker.

However, Spurs are willing to listen to offers for the England international following the series of impressive displays from Ben Davies and are happy to cash in on Danny Rose who is unhappy at North London.
