Manchester United could hijack a second transfer from AC Milan after Joshua Zirkzee deal

Manchester United are reportedly looking to challenge AC Milan in the race to sign AS Monaco midfielder Youssouf Fofana this summer.

The Red Devils have already made significant moves in the transfer market, securing deals for Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro, both of which involved hijacking agreements from other clubs.

Leny Yoro, the talented Lille defender, was on the verge of joining Real Madrid before United swooped in.

Similarly, Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee had reportedly agreed personal terms with AC Milan but ultimately chose a move to Old Trafford. Now, Manchester United are aiming to repeat this pattern with Fofana, who has become a top target for AC Milan.

AC Milan appear to be leading the race for Fofana, having reached an agreement on personal terms with the player. However, they have yet to agree on a transfer fee with AS Monaco.

With just one year remaining on his contract, Fofana's valuation could make him an attractive proposition for other clubs.

Despite Milan's advances, Manchester United remain interested in the 24-year-old midfielder. The Red Devils are actively considering a summer move for Fofana as they seek to bolster their midfield options.

Manchester United's need for a new midfielder is encouraging, as they look to upgrade their squad and find a long-term successor to the aging Casemiro.

The club initially prioritized a move for Ugarte but were deterred by his €70 million price tag. In contrast, Fofana represents a more affordable option, with a potential transfer fee around the €35 million mark.

United's strategy in the transfer market under INEOS has been calculated as they look to target players who can immediately strengthen their squad. The pursuit of Fofana fits this approach and now it remains to be seen if they will be successful.
