Amad Diallo Inspires Manchester United's Dramatic Comeback Against Manchester City

In a thrilling derby at the Etihad Stadium, Amad Diallo played a pivotal role in Manchester United's comeback, scoring the winner in stoppage time for a 2-1 victory over Manchester City.

Amad Diallo played a pivotal role in Manchester United's thrilling 2-1 victory over Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. City initially seemed poised to close the gap on Premier League leaders Liverpool, thanks to Josko Gvardiol's header in the first half. Kevin De Bruyne's corner, deflected by Ilkay Gundogan, set up Gvardiol's goal. However, City's performance was lacklustre, and Diallo capitalised on their mistakes.

Diallo's influence was evident as he intercepted a poor back pass from Matheus Nunes, leading to a penalty after being fouled by Nunes. Bruno Fernandes successfully converted the penalty in the 88th minute, levelling the score. Diallo then showcased his skill by controlling Lisandro Martinez's long pass and scoring the decisive goal in stoppage time, securing United's win.

Diallo Leads United to Derby Victory Over City

This victory marked a significant moment for new manager Ruben Amorim, with United climbing to 12th place in the league standings. They are now just five points behind City, who remain fifth and nine points adrift of the top spot. The win highlighted Diallo's growing importance within the team.

Diallo has already etched his name into United history with crucial goals. Last season, he scored a memorable winner against Liverpool in an FA Cup quarter-final under former manager Erik ten Hag. His latest achievement makes him only the second United player to score a 90th-minute winner against reigning champions since Robin van Persie's goal against City in December 2012.

This defeat for City is notable as they led until the 88th minute—the latest point at which a reigning champion has ever lost after leading in Premier League history. This highlights both City's vulnerability and Diallo's ability to seize critical moments.

At just 22 years and 157 days old, Diallo became one of the youngest players to score such a decisive goal against reigning champions. Only Neil Mellor was younger when he achieved this feat against Arsenal in 2004. This underscores Diallo’s potential as a key player for United moving forward.
