Ruben Amorim praised Manchester United's perseverance in their thrilling late victory over Manchester City, likening it to the famous "Fergie time." Josko Gvardiol initially put City ahead in the first half, but United turned the game around with late goals from Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo. This win at the Etihad Stadium was crucial for United.
Both teams had an equal number of shots, with three on target each. However, most of United's chances came when they were trailing 1-0, showcasing a stronger second-half performance. Amorim became only the second manager to defeat the reigning Premier League champions twice in one season with different teams, following Alan Pardew's example.

Amorim suggested that United's comeback was reminiscent of "Fergie time," a term coined during Alex Ferguson's era when late winners were common for the team. "It was incredible," Amorim told BBC Sport. "I think we deserved it. It was a very tough match, but we believe until the end."
He continued, "We managed to score; we needed that win. It was important for us and our fans. We were in the game for 90 minutes, and that is very good." Amorim also compared this match to a previous game against Arsenal where belief was lacking.
The victory brought immense joy to United fans, but Amorim emphasized the need for consistency. "Our club needs to win these kinds of matches," he stated. Despite acknowledging areas for improvement, he praised his players' determination until the final whistle.
Amorim's pre-match decisions drew attention as Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho were left out of the squad. In their absence, Amad Diallo shone brightly by winning a penalty for Fernandes' equaliser and scoring the decisive goal shortly after.
The 22-year-old Diallo's goal marked just the seventh instance of a 90th-minute winner against reigning Premier League champions and only the second by a United player since Robin van Persie's strike against City in December 2012.
Amorim urged caution regarding Diallo's development: "He can play different positions; he is very humble," Amorim said about Diallo. He advised patience with young players like Diallo who are often placed on pedestals too soon.
This victory underscored Manchester United's resilience and potential under Amorim's guidance. The team must build on this success while managing expectations around emerging talents like Diallo.
