Manchester United are nearing agreements on new contracts with key players Kobbie Mainoo and Harry Maguire, marking a significant step in securing their futures at Old Trafford amid the club's resurgence under interim head coach Michael Carrick.
According to The Athletic, negotiations have reached an advanced stage for both players, though some final details remain to be ironed out.

The club is prioritizing these extensions to reward consistent performers and stabilize the squad as they push for a strong finish in the 2025-26 Premier League season.
For Kobbie Mainoo, the 20-year-old academy graduate who has emerged as one of Europe's most promising midfield talents, the proposed deal would extend his current contract, originally running until June 2027 with a one-year option through to the summer of 2031. This long-term commitment comes with a substantial salary increase, potentially more than quadrupling his wages to around £120,000 per week from his previous modest terms. Mainoo's breakthrough has been remarkable, but he faced challenges earlier in the season, including a reported desire for a loan move during Ruben Amorim's brief and ultimately unsuccessful tenure as head coach, which ended in January 2026.
Harry Maguire, the experienced 33-year-old centre-back, is also close to finalizing terms. His existing deal expires at the end of the current season, making him a free agent this summer, but United are working on a one-year extension with an option for an additional 12 months. This would keep the former captain at the club beyond 2026, rewarding his revival after a period of uncertainty.
Maguire has been a reliable starter under Carrick, featuring in all nine of his games so far, and his leadership has earned support from teammates who view retaining him as essential.
Both players' prominence reflects the positive shift since Carrick took interim charge following Amorim's dismissal. United have shown impressive consistency, remaining unbeaten in several early matches under the former midfielder and climbing to third place in the Premier League table with strong results.
The two Red Devil players also got called up to the England squad by Thomas Tuchel for March friendlies as the England manager named 35-member squad.
