Bruno Fernandes emphasised the need for Manchester United to reclaim their rightful place under the guidance of Ruben Amorim. After a decisive 3-0 victory over Leicester City in the Premier League, Fernandes celebrated his 250th appearance for United with a goal and an assist. He also played a part in forcing an own goal by Victor Kristiansen during the first half.
Fernandes has now been directly involved in 100 goals across 170 Premier League appearances for United, achieving this milestone just one game more than Cristiano Ronaldo, who reached it in 169 appearances. This achievement underscores Fernandes' significant contribution to the team since joining.

United have remained unbeaten in four matches across all competitions under interim coach Ruud van Nistelrooy following Erik ten Hag's departure last month. The team is now gearing up for Ruben Amorim's arrival as their new manager on Monday. Fernandes expressed satisfaction in helping Van Nistelrooy conclude his tenure with a win and is optimistic about the future under Amorim.
"It was a long time that I wasn't scoring and now goals are coming in the last few games," Fernandes stated. "Another clean sheet was important for us to bring back the fortress we had here. We have to keep doing that and we have to improve."
Leicester City failed to score in a Premier League match for the first time this season despite showing improvement in the second half. This loss leaves them with only two wins from their 11 league matches this season (D4 L5), having fewer victories at this stage only once before, during the 2001-02 campaign.
Steve Cooper, Leicester's manager, did not use Jamie Vardy's absence as an excuse for their lacklustre performance on Sunday. "The result will paint the picture but, in the end, we didn't show enough desire in either penalty area," Cooper remarked.
Leicester had significant opportunities in both halves but were thwarted by Andre Onana's excellent saves against Wilfried Ndidi and Jordan Ayew. Despite these chances, they struggled to display their usual attacking prowess without Vardy leading their attack.
"Two of the goals have come from our corners as well, which is frustrating," Cooper added. "It wasn't a dangerous position, but we made it dangerous." He acknowledged that while they got into promising areas, they lacked purpose and determination to capitalise on those opportunities.
The match highlighted Manchester United's resurgence and Leicester City's ongoing challenges this season. As United look forward to a new chapter under Amorim, Leicester must address their issues to improve their standing in the league.
