Three key positions Manchester United could look to improve in January

In the ongoing January transfer window, Manchester United are expected to analyze the transfer market aimed at strengthening various positions within the squad.

Erik ten Hag, going through a challenging start to the season, is eager to secure reinforcements, acknowledging the imperative requirement for substantial upgrades.

However, United's finances are pretty constrained due to Financial Fair Play meaning the club have to act wise in the market to secure cut-price deals or sell first before doing any big business. Keeping all these in mind, here we put together three key positions that could see new arrivals in the January window-

1. Striker

United will look to get rid of some fringe players in the January window, the most high-profile being Anthony Martial, who is out of contract at the end of this season. There is believed to be interest from the Saudi Pro League to sign him in winter.

If so United could look to crack a loan deal similar to Wout Weghorst last summer, Rb Leipzig's Timo Werner and Bayern Munich's Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting are reportedly some of the options the club is looking to add. Stuttgart man Guirassy who has racked up 17 goals is also in the mix.

2. Right Winger

With Antony failing to impress any bit and United almost sure to let go of exiled Jadon Sancho in January, it will be fair from their point of view to look for a wide attacker. Although no concrete rumors have been generated yet for this area.

3. Defensive Midfield

With loanee Sofyan Amrabat failing to impress and ongoing rumors of Casemiro departing the side for the Saudi Pro League, Manchester United could seek the answer in January.

Surprisingly Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips who has failed to cut since last season is reportedly one of the preferred options for the Red Devils. However, more options are likely to generate more window advances.
