Manchester United keen on Bordeaux attacker but the Club dismisses reports

London, Dec 18: Manchester United are lining up a bid for Ligue 1 sensation, Bordeaux forward Malcom in the January transfer window, according to reports.

The 20-year-old Brazilian joined the league 1 side from Brazilian club Corinthians last season and is a left-footed player who can play in the right wing as well as the central attacking midfielder.

The youngster has been in great form for the Ligue 1 side this season, scoring seven goals and registering four assists in 17 appearances.

United have been trying to land a player of similar position since the last window. They tried to sign Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic in the summer however after lots of huss and fuss both the clubs could not be agreed on terms and the Croatian had to settle at Milan for another season.

Perisic also has recently signed a new contract with the club which all but eliminated the possibility of approaching the winger in January.

On the other hand, the Red Devils are also facing a crisis in the number 10 position after last season's signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan failed to establish himself as a regular and now on the verge of moving out of the club after falling out of favour under Mourinho due to his lacklustre performance.

Thus United are eying up attacking reinforcements in the January transfer window in a bid to continue mounting pressure on league leaders Manchester City and according to reports, they have identified the young Brazilian attacker as a genuine option.

The 20-year-old is reportedly valued at £26million by the club but to United's Bordeaux’s president has now dismissed such speculation regarding the Brazilian's transfer and claimed the 20-year-old is going nowhere in the new year.

Asked about the speculation, the Bordeaux president said: 'He will not leave this winter.

'Even if we are ready in the process? I do not see what would be the interest of a club to do that.’

The Garonne outfit are currently for form this season in Ligue 1 and fighting relegation battle standing only in the 15th spot.

Malcom is their only bright point of this season and should the French side decide to sell the player, it could give them an opportunity to build their squad by encashing on the talented player which could eventually improve their squad depth in the long run.
