Confident United an improvement on last season: Pogba

Manchester United are better this season than during their first year under Jose Mourinho, says Paul Pogba.

Manchester United's Paul Pogba celebrates his goal against Swansea City

Swansea, August 20: Paul Pogba believes the familiarity in the Manchester United squad has made them a better team than in their debut campaign under Jose Mourinho.

Mourinho took charge at Old Trafford ahead of the 2016-17 season, guiding the club to victory in the Community Shield, the EFL Cup and the Europa League.

Victory at Swansea City on Saturday represented a second 4-0 win in as many Premier League matches for United following their home triumph over West Ham last weekend.

And Pogba - scorer of his side's third goal at the Liberty Stadium - says United are bullish about their prospects in the coming season.

"I think we're more confident. We know each other more now it's the second year," he told Sky Sports.

"In the first year when you have a new manager and you have to change the team, it's not easy, but we still won trophies.

"This season we're more confident. We know the team very well.

"We work for each other and that makes it easier for us."

Henrikh Mkhitaryan provided the assists for both Pogba and Romelu Lukaku and believes the task of putting the match to bed became easier as Swansea chased an equaliser.

"It was a tough game, especially in the first half because they were playing with five defenders.

"But we had pressure and we were doing what we had to do and we scored from a set-piece.

"In the second half it became much easier because we had more space to create, and that's why we scored the second, the third and the fourth goal."
