Bengaluru, March 12: Manchester United are reportedly preparing to offer out of favour Daley Blind to Ajax in a potential deal for their wonderkid Justin Kluivert.
Jose Mourinho has made no secret of his admiration for Kluivert, the son of Netherlands legend Patrick Kluivert, and was pictured with the 18-year-old forward after the Europa League final last season.
Barcelona have also expressed an interest in Kluivert but the Red Devils are determined not to be beaten to the signature of the highly-rated young Dutchman. According to The Daily Mirror, Ed Woodward is ready to use Blind as bait in order to get a deal over the line for the teenager.
Blind has only managed five appearances for the Red Devils in the Premier League this term and is understood to be open to the idea of a move away from Old Trafford.
The versatile 27-year-old came through the ranks at Ajax before sealing a £13.8m switch to United ahead of the 2014/15 campaign and is a popular figure at the Amsterdam Arena still now.
Kluivert recently revealed what Mourinho said to him in the aftermath of United’s Europa League win last May.
"He said it was nice to see me again after such a long time, because he had known me when I was a baby," Kluivert told FourFourTwo magazine.
"And he said it was nice to see that I was doing well. My highlight has been the Europa League final, even though I didn’t play.
"Such an occasion is unique and to be there was so special. You won’t experience that often.
"My two main goals are winning the Eredivisie title with Ajax and then making my debut for the Netherlands, and of course to keep improving.
"I want to improve on everything. I’m still young. I give everything in training and I also make a point of trying to improve even the things that already going well."
