Bengaluru, August 21: Rumours in England claim that Manchester United could re-sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic this month. The striker is currently a free-agent after his contract at Old Trafford expired earlier in the summer.
The Swedish superstar is currently sidelined with an injury sustained at the end of last season and is yet to commit to any club. With his knee injury keeping him out until early next year, there has been no rush to resolve his future.
In the meantime, he has been given permission to use the facilities at Manchester United's Carrington training complex which has increased the possibility of signing for Manchester United once he returns to action.
Jose Mourinho is understood to have him in his plans with a number of English publications reporting that the Manchester United manager wants him registered for the knock-out stage of the Champions League.
That won't be until next year, but it's reported Manchester United want to show willing by offering him fresh terms as early as this month.
Those terms will be greatly reduced from his contract last season during which he reportedly earned £367,640 per week.
The Swede's return will provide competition for summer signing Romelu Lukaku, who has become Manchester United's new first-choice striker.
Considering his impact last season, in which he scored 28 goals in all competitions, he could be a real threat to the Belgian.
The Independent earlier reported that the Sweden international could be offered a coaching role at the club when he decides to retire, as part of the deal.
Ibrahimovic won the EFL Cup and the Europa League with the Red Devils last season, but has been a free agent since the end of the 2016/17 campaign.
