Manchester United target Championship starlet Sessegnon

Manchester United were interested in bringing in Spurs ace Danny Rose this summer but the Red Devils could drop their interest in the England full-back, and go for Sessegnon instead.

Bengaluru, March 20: Manchester United are preparing a £40million summer swoop for Fulham wonderkid Ryan Sessegnon who has often been linked with the biggest clubs in England and Europe in recent months.

The England Under-17 World Cup winner, who has been a revelation this season for his boyhood club, has scored 14 times for the Londoners.

The Fulham prodigy has attracted the interest of a number of Premier League clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea. He has even been linked with foreign clubs like Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

But Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho is keen to bring in the youngster, who is regarded as a star of the future.

Manchester Untied have sent scouts to watch the 17-year-old in Fulham’s last three Championship matches. He is seen as a left-sided option instead of Luke Shaw, who is set to leave Old Trafford after a training ground bust-up with Mourinho.

Manchester United were interested in bringing in Spurs ace Danny Rose this summer but the Red Devils could drop their interest in the England full-back, and go for Sessegnon instead.

An Old Trafford source said: “The club have been keeping tabs on him and the reports back are fantastic.

“He is even being compared to Gareth Bale at the same stage of his career. He has all the attributes.

“He is quick and has an eye for goal. Jose has been impressed with him and he will be a star.”

Sessegnon made his debut for the Cottagers last season aged just 16, when he scored seven times. He has taken his game to another level this season.

The youngster is christened as 'the next Gareth Bale' as he can play either as a left full-back and is also brilliant as a winger.

However, in the future, it is expected that he will feature as a winger more often than not.
