Madrid, Sep 9: Real Madrid and Spain midfield maestro Isco is set to put an end to Manchester United and Tottenham’s hopes of signing him by formally agreeing on a new deal at Real Madrid.
The attacking-midfielder has picked up where he left off at the end of last season, excelling at the Bernabeu for both club and country. Right now, the 25-year-old is at the top of his game coming back amazingly from a position when he was just a squad player of Los Blancos.
The Spanish international scored twice as La Roja romped to a 3-0 win against Italy at Real Madrid’s stadium.
And, Isco has been rewarded a new deal by the current La Liga and Champions League holders and it has been confirmed by none other than the club president Florentino Perez.
Madrid president Florentino Perez confirmed that the 25-year-old, who is under contract until 2018, has agreed to an extension with an announcement to come in the upcoming days.
The Bernabeu chief told Cadena SER: “Isco arrived here when he was very young and all he has done is improve.
“He is currently playing as we believed he would turn out.
“We will be announcing his contract renewal in the coming days, a renewal which is a done deal.”
Both Manchester United and Spurs have held a long-term interest in the midfielder but now have to look elsewhere if they want to add creativity to their respective sides.
Isco arrived at Real Madrid from Malaga back in 2013 with massive expectations but at first, he struggled to make much impact. Until the last season, he was mostly used as an impact substitute in most games but he took his chances last season when Gareth Bale was out with injury.
Right now, Isco is one of the key players of Real Madrid and a new contract is pretty much deserving.
