Bengaluru, December 9: Premier League giants Manchester United are said to be tracking the progress of Anderlecht starlet Eliot Matazo.

The Red Devils have been made aware of the highly-rated Belgian schoolboy after being tipped off by scouts in Belgium.

Reports claim that the Red Devils have now stepped up their interest in the 15-year-old, amid interest from a host of other sides across Europe.

Dutch paper Voetbalkrant say Manchester have made contact with the representatives of the midfielder through the family of striker Romelu Lukaku.

The United star began his career at Anderlecht and his family are still well connected with the Belgian club.

Matazo is the captain of the Anderlecht under-16 side and the club are keen to tie him down to a new deal.

The Belgian does not turn 16 until February, when they hope to get the teenager to sign academy forms.

Until then, he is vulnerable to the advances of other clubs, with Anderlecht only being due compensation payments if he decides to move elsewhere.

Manchester United’s local rivals Manchester City have also registered their interest in the 15-year-old.

But, he has also caught the attention of other big clubs on the continent who have all sent scouts to watch him in action.

Borussia Dortmund have already made their interest known and would love to take Matazo to Germany when he leaves school.

There is also competition from Bundesliga giants Schalke and RB Leipzig who also want to take the defensive midfielder on.

Monaco are another side who have registered their interest, but it is United who appear to be the front-runners for his signature should he decide to leave Anderlecht.
