Bengaluru, March 8: Manchester United have joined a host of Premier League clubs in the race for in-form Watford midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure, according to reports in England.
The Frenchman has been impressive for the Hornets this season and is currently their top scorer with seven goals in 30 appearances.
Reports claim that the Man United manager Jose Mourinho is keen on Doucoure, 25, as he looks to add two midfielders to his squad in the summer.
Marouane Fellaini is expected to leave the Theatre of Dreams in the next window while Michael Carrick, 37, is set to call an end to his playing career and become part of the coaching staff.
Manchester United scouts are said to have watched his performance in the 1-0 home win against West Brom at the weekend and they have watched him on a few other occasions as well.
It is said that the Frenchman's strong performances on Saturday, as well as in other game such as the 4-1 win against Chelsea, have got Mourinho interested.
However, it will not be an easy job to lure the Frenchman to Old Trafford considering that he is also being regularly watched by the likes of Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool.
He will not come cheap as well as he still has two years left on his current deal at Vicarage Road.
The midfielder was recently asked about his future and left himself open for a move.
He said: “We’ll see what the state of play is in the summer and then we can ask questions.”
Doucore is a hard-working midfielder with a good range of passing and has added goals to his game as well which is what most manager look out for.
A box to box midfielder with an eye for goals will be a welcome addition to any of the big clubs who are watching him.
