In the 2024-25 season, Manchester United is preparing to make significant changes to its squad after a challenging previous season.
Despite finishing eighth in the last season, they managed to secure a spot in the UEFA Europa League by defeating their rival Manchester City in the FA Cup Final. They started their pre-season with a 1-0 defeat against Rosenborg.

The Red Devils have already made notable signings, such as Joshua Zirkee from Bologna as a centre-forward and Leny Yoro from Lille as a centre-back. Additionally, returning loaned players like Sancho, Greenwood, and Van de Beek will add further strength to the squad. Some other players are also linked with the club and we can expect a few new faces to join the Red side of Manchester.
Manuel Ugarte
There are strong indications that Manchester United is poised to secure the signature of PSG's defensive midfielder, Manuel Ugarte. Personal terms have reportedly been agreed upon with the 23-year-old Uruguayan, who is eager to join United despite the absence of Champions League football. With his experience at PSG and in the Uruguay national team, where he made 25 appearances for his club last season, Ugarte is an exciting prospect for the club. This transfer may force United to trade off Casemiro though bringing Ugarte on a one-year loan is also a possibility.
Matthijs de Ligt
Manchester United is determined to bolster its defence with the addition of Matthijs de Ligt, who has already completed his medical examination after personal terms were agreed upon. As Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof could depart in this window, the Red Devils are looking for options besides their No.1 centre-back Lisandro Martinez.
The 24-year-old Dutch international, known for his clean tackling, anticipation, marking, and accurate passing, is seen as a priority target to strengthen the team's backline. With 53 appearances and 5 goals for Bayern Munich, de Ligt brings a wealth of experience to the table.
Adrien Rabiot
As a free agent following his departure from Juventus after a successful five-year tenure at Turin, Adrien Rabiot is on Manchester United's radar for a potential midfield reinforcement.
Reports suggest that the 29-year-old Frenchman has rejected a new offer from the Old Lady and expressed interest in joining the Red Devils. Rabiot's potential addition is seen as a financially viable and impactful move for Manchester United along with the addition of significant experience from his time at PSG and Juventus.
