Manchester United's emerging talents, Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho, have earned nominations for the 2024 Kopa Trophy.
This award, which has previously been won by the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Matthijs de Ligt, Pedri, Gavi, and Jude Bellingham, recognizes the best under-21 player in world football, with the ceremony hosted by France Football and UEFA since 2018.

The 2023-24 season showcased the immense potential of young players who made significant impacts on the global stage, with several standout performances coming from those who are still early in their careers.
Mainoo and Garnacho, both products of Manchester United's academy, have been included in a highly competitive 10-man shortlist for this year’s Kopa Trophy.
Mainoo, in particular, enjoyed a breakthrough season at Old Trafford, becoming a regular in United's midfield during the second half of the campaign.
He capped off his impressive run by scoring the winning goal in the FA Cup final and played a crucial role for England in their Euro 2024 campaign under Gareth Southgate.
Garnacho, on the other hand, was a key figure in United's attack, contributing 10 goals and five assists across all competitions during the 2023/24 season. His performances earned him a start for Argentina in the Copa America, where he played a part in their successful title defense.
Despite the achievements of Mainoo and Garnacho, the favourite for the 2024 Kopa Trophy is widely regarded to be Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal.
The young sensation made history by helping Spain secure victory in Euro 2024, just a day after celebrating his 17th birthday. His stellar performances have also earned him a nomination for the Ballon d’Or 2024.
The winner of the Kopa Trophy will be announced on October 28, alongside the presentation of the Ballon d’Or, making it a night of celebration for the world’s best footballing talent.
