Manchester City 'desperate to put things right': Barry

London, Dec 18(ANI): Manchester City midfielder Gareth Barry has said that the team had a huge dressing room row after Wednesday night's 3-0 defeat to fellow Champions League hopefuls Tottenham Hotspur.

Barry also insisted that the defeat has made City even more determined to break into the Big Four of the Premier League.

"There were a lot of hurt players in the dressing room and the lads were really at each other's throats. But there was nothing malicious - we are desperate to put things right," The Sun quoted Barry, as saying.

"It is not just the defeat, it is the way we lost. We have lost a lot of pride. Our desire to make the top four is stronger after that defeat. That was our aim at the start of the season - and there's no reason why that can't be achieved," he added.

The 28-year-old further said that they will get back to their winning ways in their next game against the 'struggling' Sunderland.

"It's important how we react to this, the best teams bounce back straight away and we've got to try and do that on Saturday. We want to get back to winning ways and we want three points. Nothing else is good enough," Barry said.

"Sunderland are struggling with form, but we still can't underestimate them at all. One of the reasons we were so disappointed with the defeat against Spurs was because they are one of the teams who are challenging us to be in the top four," he added.

Manchester City is currently in eighth position in the Premier League table, and six points adrift of the top four. (ANI)
