Marco Reus set to return from long injury lay-off

As per Stoger and the medical team of Dortmund, Reus's posterior cruciate ligament has fully healed and he can now participate in full team training and can soon be available for selection.

Marco Reus set to return in February

Bengaluru, January 26: Borussia Dortmund have been handed a huge boost after manager Peter Stoger claims the team expects the return of star attacker Marco Reus as early as first week of February.

Reus suffered a partial ligament tear during the DFB Pokal final victory in May last year and hasn't played a single match this season.

The forward, who has missed 101 games for Dortmund due to injury, was expected to be back from the sidelines early 2018 however it took him a little more time to fully recover from the injury.

And now as per the manager and the medical team of Dortmund, Reus's posterior cruciate ligament has fully healed and he can now participate in full team training and can soon be available for selection.

Stoger ahead of their match against Freiburg said: "I'm not sure if he'll be fit for our next game against Freiburg.

"If he's not involved in the week ahead, it'll be the week after that. He's incredibly ambitious. I won't hold him back."

Reus joined Dortmund from Borussia Mönchengladbach back in 2012 and has been a key part of Dortmund's rise in the last five years.

The injury-plagued attacker has an impressive record of 92 goals and 63 assists from 222 appearances in the famous yellow jersey and in the midst of their star attacker Aubameyang's transfer speculation, this news can be a welcome boost for their fans.

Additionally, Reus who only has a year left on his contract is reportedly holding talks with Dortmund chiefs over a new contract and the club is also apparently willing to hand him a new deal.
