Burnley have secured Marcus Edwards on loan from Sporting CP until the season's end. Edwards, who has represented England up to the under-20 level, began his career at Tottenham's academy. He moved to Portugal in 2019, joining Vitoria de Guimaraes. During his time there, he netted 10 goals in two seasons before transferring to Sporting for £7.7 million.
Edwards expressed his excitement about joining Burnley, stating: "It feels amazing. Burnley is like a Premier League club. I'm really happy to be here. The main thing now is to get promoted back to the Premier League. I'm coming here to try and get myself into the team. I hope we can make it over the line this season and I hope Burnley fans will enjoy watching me play too."

Edwards' decision was influenced by Scott Parker, Burnley's manager, with whom he previously worked at Tottenham's academy. This connection played a significant role in his choice to join The Clarets.
This season, Edwards has only made six league appearances for Sporting. His move aims to strengthen Burnley's push for automatic promotion to the Premier League.
Currently sitting third in the Championship table, Burnley recently drew 0-0 with Portsmouth, marking their eighth consecutive clean sheet. Despite this defensive strength, they have struggled offensively, drawing five of their last seven games without scoring.
The addition of Edwards is expected to enhance their attacking capabilities as they aim for promotion. His experience and skills are anticipated to provide a much-needed boost in their quest for top-flight football next season.
