Enzo Maresca has cautioned Chelsea, who are currently performing well, that football's dynamics can shift rapidly. Ahead of their Premier League clash with Tottenham, Maresca's team sits second with 28 points from 14 games. They trail Liverpool by seven points and remain unbeaten in six matches. Arsenal also has 28 points but is third due to goal difference, while Manchester City is fourth, two points behind Chelsea.
Chelsea's head coach, Maresca, does not yet see his team as title contenders alongside Arsenal, Liverpool, and City. "I don’t think we are there and ready to compete with Arsenal, Liverpool and City. We have to do many more things well, not just score goals," he stated. He emphasised the importance of focusing on immediate matches rather than looking too far ahead into the season.

The Blues have been prolific in front of goal this season, netting 31 times—the highest in the league. Cole Palmer leads their scoring chart with nine goals, closely followed by Nicolas Jackson with eight. Their recent 5-1 victory over Southampton marked the second time they scored five or more goals away this season.
Tottenham recently suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth, causing them to slip to tenth place. Despite this setback, Maresca praised Spurs as a formidable side: "Spurs have very good players and a very good manager. What kind of problems they have, I don't know. But they are a fantastic team." He noted their recent victory against Manchester City as evidence of their quality.
Maresca also commended Noni Madueke for his contributions this season. The winger scored his fifth goal against Southampton and has been involved in three goals over two matches. "Overall he's working well since we started," Maresca remarked about Madueke’s performance but stressed the need for continued improvement.
Maresca highlighted Madueke’s effectiveness both offensively and defensively: "In terms of numbers, he's doing fantastic with goals and assists... Off the ball, when we ask him to defend and press, he's doing very well." He urged Madueke not to become complacent: "The only reason I said this the other day is that I want the best from Noni and to get the best you have to push him."
As Chelsea prepares for their derby against Tottenham, they aim to maintain their strong form while acknowledging that football can be unpredictable. The focus remains on each upcoming match as they navigate through the competitive Premier League landscape.
