Martin Odegaard blames Spanish Media for his unsuccessful stint at Real Madrid

And while explaining his underwhelming time in Madrid, the 24-year-old directly accused the media for not showing any patience with him.

Martin Odegaard

Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard has been one of the most decorated players in the Premier League so far this season.

Odeggard has already netted 8 goals and has played a massive part in the Gunners' mission Premier League so far. His vision, ability on the ball and leadership all have combined to produce a fruitful output for Mikel Arteta and his team.

Odegaard in the footballing scene for a long time. He joined Real Madrid as a 15-year-old kid from the Norwegian club Stromsgodset. But despite joining Real Madrid at such a tender age, there were lofty expectations from all around on him.

The player didn't get any time to settle and play his football, as the insurmountable pressure of his reputation led to an unhappy ending in the Spanish capital. Odegaard mostly spent his time on loan at clubs, and eventually joined Arsenal on loan as well, who then went on to sign him permanently to give him his new, and perhaps the perfect home.

And while explaining his underwhelming time in Madrid, the 24-year-old directly accused the media for not showing any patience with him.

"The press persecuted me for not immediately living up to expectations. I was an easy target. If you really know me, you know I smile a lot, but I think from the outside sometimes my face looks more grumpy than I really am. Maybe if I had been Spanish, they would have given me a little more time to grow up," Odegaard said as quoted by Football-Espana.

"I was more worried about not making mistakes than really playing my game. My game was always about making a difference and playing the difficult pass. I can understand why it happened now. I was still a little kid, but I've learned that you have to be ruthless. You have to not give a f***. You have to show the real you on the pitch," he added.

Odegaard's season this season has been tremendous with the North London club who sit at the top of the Premier League table.
