Mary Earps To Leave PSG At End Of Contract Amid London City Links

Mary Earps is set to leave Paris Saint-Germain when the contract ends, with strong suggestions a move to London City Lionesses is close. The England goalkeeper joined PSG in July 2024 after leaving Manchester United, signing a two-year deal, yet will depart after one season amid plans to return to the Women’s Super League.

During the 2025-26 campaign, PSG finished third in the Premiere Ligue, 13 points behind champions Lyon, with Earps a key figure across competitions. London City Lionesses, who ended their first WSL season in 2025-26 in sixth place, are expected to bring Earps back to England’s top division.

Reports in England state London City Lionesses have already agreed personal terms with Earps, as the club targets further high-profile signings. The ambitious WSL side are also said to have reached agreement with two-time Ballon d’Or winner Alexia Putellas, while defender Mapi Leon is described as close to joining the squad.

Earps is leaving PSG after making 57 appearances in all competitions for the French club. In the 2025-26 league season, Earps played 19 top-flight matches, conceding 18 goals and recording nine clean sheets. Only Paris FC goalkeeper Mylene Chavas kept more clean sheets, with 13, though Chavas featured in five additional league games.

Speaking to PSG’s media channels before departure, Earps summed up the year in France with a mix of emotion and pride. Earps highlighted memorable moments at Parc des Princes and described how the spell in Paris contributed to personal and professional development, both on and off the pitch.

When asked to describe the spell at PSG, Earps said: "A crazy, great experience. I’d say great because I’m leaving with such fond memories. I’ve met great people, I’ve trained at a world-class facility, I’ve played at Parc des Princes. And experience, because I think it’s added to my growth as a player and as a person. I think that’s all you can ask for in life is to grow and to be a little bit better every day. That’s what I try to be. I’ve got to play with some fantastic players from all over the world. I got to go to Africa for the first time with the final of the League Cup."

Earps also reflected on life away from matches in the French capital, explaining how the stay in Paris shaped wider experiences. "I think there’s been a lot of on-the-pitch experiences. I’ve had a lot of firsts as well. Off the pitch, I’ve had a lot of big moments here in Paris. A lot of experiences which I’ll remember forever. I’m leaving with my heart full, and I’m so happy, privileged and lucky that I was able to have such a wonderful experience here."

Before signing for PSG, Earps spent five years with Manchester United in the Women’s Super League, helping the club grow into regular contenders. Earps was part of the United side that won the FA Cup in 2023-24, the first major trophy in the club’s women’s history, adding further weight to the experience London City Lionesses are now expected to bring into their dressing room.

The move from PSG to London City Lionesses would mark another significant step in an already decorated career, following honours with Manchester United and a productive year in France. With Alexia Putellas and Mapi Leon also linked, the WSL side appear set for a squad with strong international pedigree as the 2026-27 season approaches.
