Matheus Cunha Finalises Transfer To Manchester United: A Childhood Dream Realised

Matheus Cunha has completed his transfer to Manchester United from Wolves, signing a five-year contract. The Brazilian forward shares his excitement about fulfilling a lifelong dream of playing for the club.

Matheus Cunha has expressed his excitement about joining Manchester United, describing it as a dream come true. The Brazilian forward completed his transfer from Wolves on Thursday, signing a five-year contract that runs until June 2030, with an option for an additional year. United had earlier announced their agreement with Wolves in early June, following the activation of a reported £62.5 million release clause.

Cunha's passion for Manchester United began during his childhood in Brazil. He shared, "It is hard to put into words my feelings about becoming a Manchester United player. Ever since I was a child in Brazil watching Premier League games on TV at my grandmother's house, United was my favourite English team, and I dreamed of wearing the red shirt." He expressed gratitude to his family and supporters for helping him achieve this dream.

Cunha Joins Manchester United from Wolves

Manchester United are aiming to bounce back after enduring their worst-ever Premier League finish, ending up in 15th place. The team managed only 44 goals across 38 league matches, with only Everton (42), Ipswich Town (36), Leicester City (33), and Southampton (26) scoring fewer. Cunha's arrival is seen as a step towards revitalising the squad and improving their attacking prowess.

In the 2024-25 season, Cunha made a significant impact at Wolves by appearing in 33 Premier League matches. He emerged as the team's top scorer with 15 goals and also contributed six assists, ranking second among his teammates. His ability to create opportunities was evident as he crafted 57 chances and took 110 shots, with 44 being on target.

During his two seasons with Wolves, Cunha scored a total of 33 goals in 92 appearances across all competitions. His impressive performance included creating more chances than any other Wolves player and taking more shots than any Manchester United player managed during that period. These statistics highlight his potential to make a significant impact at Old Trafford.

Cunha is eager to integrate into the Manchester United squad and contribute to their success. "I can't wait for the start of pre-season to get to know my team-mates and prepare for the season ahead," he stated. His focus is on working hard to become an integral part of the team and help restore the club's status at the top of English football.

The Brazilian forward's move represents not just personal achievement but also hope for Manchester United fans who are keenly anticipating improved performances in upcoming seasons.
