Matt Turner has rejoined the New England Revolution on loan from Lyon, following his transfer from Nottingham Forest. The goalkeeper moved from the Premier League to Ligue 1 for a reported fee of £6.5 million (€7.4 million) before securing a loan deal with New England until June 2026, which includes an option to buy.
Turner initially moved to England in 2022 to join Arsenal but spent just one season there before transferring to Nottingham Forest. During his time with Arsenal, he played two FA Cup matches and participated in five Europa League games under Mikel Arteta's management. At Nottingham Forest, Turner made 17 league appearances and achieved three clean sheets before losing his starting position to Matz Sels.

In the 2024-25 season, Turner was loaned to Crystal Palace, where he managed two clean sheets in three games during their FA Cup victory. Despite these achievements, the United States international struggled for consistent playing time in England and is now eager to return to Major League Soccer (MLS).
"It is a privilege to return to the club that launched my career," Turner expressed on the club's website. He shared his excitement about returning to New England Revolution, a place he considers a second home.
Turner expressed deep gratitude for the unwavering support he received from Revolution fans over the past three years. "The club that helped me discover who I am as a professional, the club that has always felt like a home away from home," he stated.
He looks forward to playing at Gillette Stadium again and cherishes the opportunity to earn his place on the field once more. Turner is eager to contribute significantly and win many more games with New England Revolution.
His return marks an important chapter in his career as he aims to regain form and stability in MLS after challenging spells in European football.
