Mauricio Pochettino Hopes For Future Return To Tottenham Hotspur After Six Years

Mauricio Pochettino expresses his desire to return to Tottenham Hotspur in the future. He reflects on his successful tenure and maintains a good relationship with the club's chairman.

Mauricio Pochettino has expressed a desire to return to Tottenham Hotspur, six years after his departure. He managed the club from 2014 to 2019, leading them to the Champions League final in his last season. Despite being dismissed five months later, he remains fond of Spurs and is open to returning in the future.

Pochettino's tenure at Spurs was marked by significant achievements. He managed 293 matches across all competitions, securing 160 victories, drawing 60 times, and losing 73 games. His winning percentage of 54.27% is the highest among Spurs managers who have overseen at least 100 games.

Pochettino Eyes Future Tottenham Return

Since Pochettino's exit, Tottenham has seen four different managers. Jose Mourinho succeeded him in 2019 but was dismissed after 17 months, just before an EFL Cup final against Manchester City. Nuno Espirito Santo and Antonio Conte followed before Ange Postecoglou took over.

Currently, Spurs are struggling under Postecoglou's leadership. They sit 14th in the Premier League table after a recent defeat to Fulham marked their 15th loss of the season. This equals their worst record at this stage since the 1997-98 campaign.

Now managing the United States national team, Pochettino is preparing for the 2026 World Cup. Despite his current role, he maintains a connection with Tottenham and its chairman Daniel Levy. "You're talking about two different sides, professional and personal," he stated regarding their relationship.

Pochettino reflected on his time with Spurs: "When I left the club, I always remember one interview I said I would like one day to come back to Tottenham." He added that even after several years, he still feels a strong connection to the club.

Relationship with Daniel Levy

Pochettino continues to have a good relationship with Daniel Levy despite their professional split. "He is always there," Pochettino mentioned about Levy's presence and support. Their relationship has remained strong despite the challenges they faced together.

The Argentine coach acknowledged that separating professional matters from personal relationships can be difficult in football. However, he emphasized that they managed to maintain a positive connection even after parting ways professionally.

Pochettino's affection for Tottenham remains evident as he considers a potential return someday. For now, he focuses on his current role while cherishing memories of his time at Spurs and maintaining ties with key figures at the club.
