Mauricio Pochettino Eyes Return To Premier League And Champions League Glory

Mauricio Pochettino is keen on returning to the Premier League to pursue victories in both the top flight and the Champions League. He reflects on his previous achievements while currently focusing on leading the US Men's National Team in the upcoming World Cup.

Mauricio Pochettino has expressed his desire to return to the Premier League, aiming to win both the league and the Champions League. The Argentine coach spent six years in England, starting at Southampton in 2013, where he helped the team avoid relegation. Later, he took over at Tottenham in 2014, leading them to a second-place finish in the Premier League three years later.

Currently, Pochettino is focused on his role with the United States national team. His contract runs until September next year, and he is preparing to lead the co-hosts at the 2026 World Cup. Despite this commitment, he remains interested in returning to English football. "I watch a lot. The Premier League is the best in the world," he told BBC Sport.

Pochettino Aims for Premier League Success

Pochettino's time at Tottenham was marked by significant achievements, including reaching the Champions League final in 2019 after an impressive comeback against Ajax in the semi-finals. However, they fell short of victory with a 2-0 loss to Liverpool. Reflecting on his ambitions, Pochettino stated, "I am so happy in the USA, but I am always thinking about returning one day."

The coach is enthusiastic about leading the US team into next year's tournament. The USA has been drawn alongside Paraguay and Australia in Group D for the finals. Pochettino is eager for this challenge and sees it as a great opportunity for American soccer. "It is going to be amazing," he said.

Pochettino appreciates his current position with the US team but keeps an eye on future possibilities across the Atlantic. He acknowledges that while he's content in America, his long-term goal remains winning major titles back in England. "It is the most competitive league and, of course, I would love to come back again," he shared.

The coach values his experience and energy as assets for future challenges. He believes these qualities will help him achieve success when he returns to club management. "We were so close at Tottenham," he remarked about his past experiences.

Pochettino's enthusiasm for American culture and its people is evident as he encourages others to explore what the country offers. "The USA is an amazing country, with amazing people and fans," he added.
