Mauro Icardi closes in on joining Arsenal

London, July 21: Arsenal FC are ready to seal a deal for Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi this summer, as reported by Italian media outlet Corriere delo Sport.

The reports suggest, that Icardi's wife, who is also his agent, Wanda was in London yesterday (July 20) and it being speculated that she met the Gunners officials for a move to Emirates this summer.

Mauro Icardi scored 16 goals last season in 33 Serie A appearance. He had an impressive outing with Inter Milan last time and it is believed Arsene Wenger is keen on roping in the player.

It is believed that the Argentine striker will earn £96,000 -a-week salary which is a big hike compared what he was earning at Inter, £61,000 per week.

Arsenal are in search of a positive number 9 to add into their squad. The Gunners have perfectly balanced squad with several quality players in defense and midfield, but they lack a proper striker upfront who can net at least 25 plus goals in a season.

They have Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck upfront but none of them has proved their worth in these years. Giroud has been their main striker since 2012 but that never helped Arsenal much.

Earlier this summer, the English giants were in pursuit of Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy, but the reigning English Premier giants rejected the bid.

Icardi will be a great addition to the Arsenal squad and Wenger would hope the deal happens as soon as possible.
