Mbeumo Likely To Depart Brentford This Summer, According To Captain Norgaard

Brentford's Christian Norgaard anticipates that Bryan Mbeumo will leave the club this summer following an impressive season. With 18 goals in the Premier League, Mbeumo has attracted interest from top clubs like Liverpool and Arsenal.

Brentford's captain, Christian Norgaard, anticipates Bryan Mbeumo's departure this summer after an impressive season. Mbeumo has netted 18 goals in the Premier League, significantly contributing to Brentford's success and drawing interest from top clubs like Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham, and Newcastle United. The Cameroon international's potential exit isn't the only concern, as Yoane Wissa, also with 18 goals, is rumoured to be leaving too.

In addition to Mbeumo and Wissa, Kevin Schade might return to Germany after scoring 10 goals this season. Brentford currently sits ninth in the Premier League standings, level with Brighton and just a point behind Bournemouth. Their recent thrilling 4-3 victory over Manchester United has kept them competitive in the league.

Norgaard Expects Mbeumo to Leave Brentford

Norgaard shared his thoughts with Sky Sports about Mbeumo's likely departure. "I think Bryan is likely to go," he stated. However, he remains uncertain about Wissa's future but hopes he stays. Despite these uncertainties, Norgaard expressed satisfaction with their performances this season.

Norgaard remains composed despite the transfer rumours. He highlighted Brentford's track record of replacing key forwards successfully. The club sold Ollie Watkins and Said Benrahma for a combined £54 million in 2020 and Ivan Toney for nearly £40 million last summer. "I'm pretty calm about what will happen with Bryan and Wissa," Norgaard added.

The Danish captain acknowledged the anxiety surrounding potential player departures but emphasised that Brentford has navigated such situations before. He recalled his own concerns when players like Watkins, Benrahma, and Toney left but noted that the club continued to thrive.

Future Prospects for Brentford

Norgaard praised Brentford's recruitment strategy and mentioned new signing Igor Thiago as a promising talent for the future. "The club is so talented in recruiting and always being two or three steps ahead," he said. Thiago is expected to make an impact if Mbeumo or Wissa leave.

Brentford fans can take comfort in knowing that their club has a history of adapting well to changes in their squad. With strategic signings like Igor Thiago already in place, they are prepared for any shifts in their offensive lineup.
