The rivalry and comparison between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo will be ever-lasting despite the recent circumstances bending towards the little Argentine more. Three recent International titles including a World Cup win in 2022 almost have cemented the 35-year-old's legacy as the greatest of all time. However, despite all such his foreverrival Cristiano Ronaldo appears to be leading at one point, ensuring a bigger and better paycheq ue with his new side. The former Manchester United and Real Madrid legend has secured a whopping €70m yearly salary, the highest ever by a footballer in the world joining Sauri Arabian club Al Nassr in January. However, there is a big possibility of the former Barcelona legend topping it as well with reports now suggesting that Messi could be offered a better deal with another Saudi Arabia club Al Ittihad next season.

Lionel Messi to secure the biggest salary in football history ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo?

Messi's two-year deal with PSG, which he signed in 2021 after leaving Barcelona on a free transfer, will end in the summer. The French giants are eager to renew it and talks have been going on for some months. However, no breakthrough has been reached and there is a big possibility of him becoming a free agent in the summer.

After Ronaldo, the Saudi Pro league is reportedly ready to take advantage of the situation, and if some of the rumors are to be believed rival of Al Nassr, Al Ittihad are willing to lure Messi with an astronomical sum per year. Al Ittihad reportedly are keen to get themselves a star on the same scale as their rivals. The Jeddah club are reportedly willing to offer an €88 million per season salary on a two-year contract, which could make him the highest-paid player in football history ahead of Ronaldo.

Should the move befall, Saudi Pro League could revive the age-old rivalry. But as of now, Messi's main focus surely will be on the Bayern Munich game which they lost 1-0 in the first leg. If they crash out or fail to win the Champions League this season, it could act as a catalyst for his departure with Messi finally leaving Europe for a more relaxed life.
