London, Feb 1: Arsenal have been a handed a huge boost as reports have emerged that star playmaker Mesut Özil is set to pen down a new three-year contract extension at Arsenal dissing all the rumours of him leaving the club in the Summer.
The German world cup winner only had six months left on his contract and there were reports surfacing that the player is not willing to tie him up to a new deal at Arsenal, potentially linking with a reunion with former manager Jose Mourinho at Manchester United next Summer as a free transfer.
But reportedly the midfielder has put months of uncertainty behind him by signing the new deal, turning down offers from the likes Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United and even a cash-rich move to China and reportedly will now earn a thumping £350,000 a week wage to make him Arsenal's highest paid player.
That news emerged following Arsenal's club-record signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund on transfer deadline day however it is understood that Ozil's decision was not related to the Gabon striker's deal and the major factor behind his extension is his willingness to remain at Arsenal and in London.
The playmaker also made the Arsenal fans excited following the development of the speculation as on his social media he teased his followers with a caption "signing things".
Ozil joined the Gunners from Real Madrid in 2013 for a then club record £42.4m and has played in 110 matches in the Premier League, scoring 22 goals and providing 40 assists.
Apart from Ozil, the Gunners have also reportedly handed a fresh contract to their another star midfielder Jack Wilshere who also had only six months left on his contract.
Arsenal officials have yet responded to the speculations as of yet however it is believed that an announcement is not too far away and the news could be declared as soon as this week.
