Mexico has named their primary 31-man provisional list for the Copa America 2024. The final selection of 23 players will be made soon.
There is a striking change in the Mexican selection process as top senior players have been omitted from the squad.

Current Mexico coach Jaime Lozano has stressed on the fact of building a youthful team for the future and the old guards like Guillermo Ochoa, Raul Jimenez have found no place.
Guillermo Ochoa himself stepped away from selection as he wanted the new generation to have the much-needed exposure. The veteran goalkeeper has also cited the reason as finding a new club in the transfer window. Raul Jimenez, the Wolves striker, was dropped due to his lack of game time and form at the English Premier League club.
Apart from them, other mainstays like defender Nestor Araujo, winger Hirving Lozano are also not included in the preliminary squad.
Santiago Gimenez of Feyenoord will be leading the line for Mexico. The striker is in tremendous form for his club. Edson Alvarez, the midfield engine of West Ham is named, so is AEK Athens' Orbelin Pineda.
Luis Chavez, who forced his way out of Pachuca to the Russian club Dynamo Moscow is going to be a part of the squad, so are Cesar Montes (Almeria), Jorge Sanchez (Porto) ad Johan Vasquez (Genoa).
Former Arsenal academy player Marcelo Flores, who currently plays for Tigres, is named alongside talented former Real Betis midfielder Diego Lainez, who plays for Tiges as well. The return of Luis Romo is another big addition, whereas in-form striker Julian Quinones is going to be a part of the squad as well.
