Bayern Munich are standing firm on Michael Olise, with Uli Hoeness insisting Liverpool could not sign the forward even for 200m this summer, casting major doubt over any Anfield move as Liverpool search for a long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah.
The transfer talk gathers pace after Liverpool confirmed on Tuesday that Mohamed Salah will leave at the end of the season on a free transfer, despite agreeing a new two-year contract extension only last year, leaving 255 goals in 435 games to replace across all competitions.

Hoeness underlined Bayern Munich's position in strong terms, stressing that Olise is considered central to the club's sporting plans and rejecting the idea that Bayern would strengthen Liverpool, a club described as already spending heavily while struggling in the Premier League this season.
"Liverpool have already spent 500m this year and are having a very poor season. We won't contribute to them playing better next year," Hoeness told reporters. "We play this game for our fans. We have 430,000 members, we have millions of fans. And it doesn't help them much if we have 200m in the bank but we play worse football every Saturday because of it."
Olise, who joined Bayern Munich from Crystal Palace two years ago, has become one of Europe's most productive forwards, and in all competitions this season only Bayern team-mate Harry Kane, with 53 goal involvements, and Real Madrid's Kylian Mbappe, with 43, are ahead of Olise's 39 contributions.
| Player | Club | Goal involvements (all competitions, this season) |
|---|---|---|
| Harry Kane | Bayern Munich | 53 |
| Kylian Mbappe | Real Madrid | 43 |
| Michael Olise | Bayern Munich | 39 |
Beyond Hoeness, Bayern Munich's hierarchy are closing ranks around Michael Olise, with the France international under contract until 2029 and reportedly without a release clause, while Real Madrid are also monitoring the forward's progress ahead of potential future transfer windows.
Bayern's director of sport Max Eberl dismissed any discussion over a possible sale when speaking to Sport Bild, saying: "We're not even wasting a thought on that. He is a Bayern Munich player and has every opportunity here that top players could wish for. We want to shape the future with him."
Chief executive Jan-Christian Dreesen reinforced that stance, highlighting Bayern Munich's appeal to elite players and stressing that regular trophy chances remain central to keeping figures like Olise committed to the club despite attraction from sides such as Liverpool and Real Madrid.
"No matter which club tries to turn his head, anyone playing for Bayern knows what they have here. We compete for titles, and that is the most important thing for exceptional players like him. For this type of player, it's about winning trophies. There are not many clubs where you can do that, and we are certainly one of them. That's why I am completely convinced that Michael knows what he has with us."
For Liverpool, the need to replace Salah coincides with an uncertain domestic campaign, with the team fifth in the Premier League after a 2-1 defeat to Brighton, and the club have now lost 10 league matches in a single season for the first time since 2015-16, adding pressure ahead of the summer window.
| Season | Premier League defeats |
|---|---|
| 2015-16 | 10 |
| 2024-25 | 10 |
Liverpool's pursuit of Michael Olise may depend heavily on securing Champions League qualification, but with Bayern Munich united in keeping the forward, and rival interest from Real Madrid growing, any attempt to bring Olise to Anfield this summer appears highly challenging on both sporting and financial grounds.
