Micky Van De Ven Suffers Hamstring Injury; Expected To Return After International Break

Tottenham's Micky van de Ven is sidelined with a hamstring injury and will be unavailable until after the international break. Head coach Ange Postecoglou provided an optimistic prognosis regarding his recovery.

Micky van de Ven will be sidelined for Tottenham until after the international break due to a hamstring injury, as disclosed by head coach Ange Postecoglou. Van de Ven left the field in tears, holding his right leg, just 14 minutes into Tottenham's EFL Cup win over Manchester City on Wednesday. Despite the setback, Postecoglou remains hopeful about his recovery timeline.

Postecoglou confirmed that Van de Ven has strained his hamstring but reassured fans that it's not severe. "Micky has strained a hamstring. It's not too serious, but it will probably be after the international break for him [to return]," he stated before their match against Aston Villa on Sunday. The coach noted Van de Ven's disappointment, as he was eager to play, but emphasized that this injury is less severe than a previous one.

Micky van de Ven Injury Update

The defender has been a key player for Tottenham this season, participating in eight of their nine Premier League matches. His defensive contributions include making the second most clearances (23) and blocks (four) in the team, following Cristian Romero and Pedro Porro respectively.

In contrast to Van de Ven's situation, there is encouraging news regarding captain Heung-min Son. Son missed Spurs' recent loss at Crystal Palace but returned to training on Friday. "Sonny trained [on Friday], so if he gets through training [on Saturday], he should be OK," Postecoglou mentioned.

The upcoming international break provides an additional two weeks for Van de Ven to recover without missing too many matches. This period could be crucial in ensuring he returns fully fit and ready to contribute again.

Tottenham's progression into the Carabao Cup quarter-finals adds a positive note amidst these injury concerns. The team will aim to maintain momentum despite these challenges and hope for quick recoveries for both players.
