Milan Appoints Igli Tare As Sporting Director To Lead Club's Reset After Dismal Season

AC Milan have introduced Igli Tare as their new sporting director. This decision is part of a larger overhaul following a lacklustre season. The club ended in eighth place in Serie A, missing out on European competitions for the first time since 2019. Tare, a former forward, joins the team to help initiate this reset.

Tare's extensive experience includes a 15-year tenure at Lazio as sporting director. During his time there, he guided the team to three Coppa Italia victories and three Supercoppa Italiana wins. His appointment is seen as a strategic move by Milan to revitalise their performance.

Giorgio Furlani, Milan's chief executive, expressed enthusiasm about Tare joining the Rossoneri family. "We are pleased to welcome Tare to the Rossoneri family. He is the right person to kick-off our reset," Furlani stated. The club believes Tare's leadership will be instrumental in steering them back to success.

A significant challenge awaiting Tare is finding a new head coach. Sergio Conceicao might be dismissed after only six months in charge. Despite leading the team to a Supercoppa victory against Inter, Conceicao's record in Serie A was underwhelming with just 11 wins out of 21 matches during the 2024-25 season.

The club's recent struggles have prompted this strategic shift in management. With Tare's proven track record at Lazio, Milan hopes to regain its competitive edge both domestically and in Europe. His expertise is expected to bring fresh perspectives and strategies to the team.
