Paulo Fonseca is determined to secure his first win of the season against Venezia after three games without a victory. Milan has only managed to collect two points from their initial three matches, putting Fonseca under significant pressure. With upcoming fixtures against Liverpool in the Champions League and a derby with Inter, the need for a win is urgent.
Milan's defence has been problematic, conceding six goals in three games, more than any other Serie A team this season. The international break allowed Fonseca to focus on defensive issues. "We didn't have many players during the break, but we had many defenders. We worked on the behaviour of the defensive line and on individual behaviour," he said.

Fonseca emphasised the importance of controlling possession to reduce goals conceded. "A team that doesn't want to concede goals must keep the ball more. We are working on it. The players understand the importance of keeping the ball and managing the game with the ball," he added.
Despite facing tough matches ahead, Fonseca's immediate priority is Venezia's visit to San Siro. Milan currently sits 14th in the standings while Venezia is second-bottom with just one point. "They [games] are all important, even more so at this time. I am confident, as always. It's important to win on Saturday, then we'll think about Liverpool," Fonseca stated during a press conference.
The coach acknowledged Venezia's counter-attacking threat and highlighted improvements made since their last match against Lazio. "Against Parma [2-1 defeat] we suffered, but against Lazio [2-2 draw] we improved a lot. The problem was defensive organisation. We worked on it. We know Venezia's strong point, and we are prepared," he explained.
The fans' expectations add to Fonseca's pressure as they continue to support Milan despite recent struggles. "We coaches always are [under scrutiny], we depend on the results. But I'm just focused on my work," Fonseca remarked.
The coach expressed gratitude for fan support, noting that having 70,000 supporters is a significant show of love and responsibility for the team. "After these first three games, having 70,000 supporters is a great declaration of love. It's also a big responsibility for us, to keep evolving and make the fans proud of us," he said.
Fonseca aims to repay this support by delivering a strong performance against Venezia and improving Milan's standing in Serie A.
