AC Milan Secures Vital Win Against Venezia Ahead Of Key Liverpool And Inter Clashes

AC Milan's recent 4-0 victory over Venezia has given the team and coach Paulo Fonseca a significant confidence boost. With critical upcoming matches against Liverpool in the Champions League and a derby against Inter, this win is timely.

Paulo Fonseca believes Milan's 4-0 victory over Venezia provided a crucial confidence boost ahead of their upcoming matches against Liverpool and Inter. The 51-year-old coach had faced criticism after a slow start, with two draws and a loss in their first three games. However, the comfortable win at home, where Milan scored four goals in the first 30 minutes for the first time since October 1958, eased some of that pressure.

Despite Saturday's win offering some relief, Fonseca is already focused on the challenges ahead. Milan will host Liverpool in their Champions League opener on Tuesday, followed by a derby against Inter next weekend. "I have to be honest, I've already started thinking about both games against Liverpool and Inter. I realise the importance of the derby," Fonseca told Sky Sports Italia.

Milan Wins Big Before Key Matches

Fonseca acknowledged the difficulty of facing Liverpool but admitted he has also begun preparing for Inter. "Liverpool will be very difficult, but I cannot deny I have already started studying Inter, too," he said. The coach understands the significance of these matches for both the team and the fans.

The Portuguese coach also addressed recent protests from fans who displayed banners before kick-off demanding quick improvements. Fonseca stated that such pressures are part of being a coach at a club like Milan. "I think as a coach that I have to deal with these situations with balance, stay focused on my work and ignore everything around us," he said.

Milan's season began four rounds ago, and they have dropped points that need to be recovered. Fonseca emphasised the importance of winning convincingly to build player confidence. "Our season already started four rounds ago; we dropped points and need to recover lost ground, but it was important to win and to win like this. It gives the players confidence to keep growing," he explained.

Fonseca understands that coaching at Milan comes with inherent pressure to succeed. "Milan is a club that always has the pressure to win. If we coaches don't want this pressure, then we shouldn't be coaches," he remarked.

The recent victory over Venezia has given Milan a much-needed morale boost as they prepare for significant upcoming fixtures. The team is working hard to deliver strong performances in both matches against Liverpool and Inter.
