Paulo Fonseca praised his Milan squad's focused approach in their commanding Coppa Italia victory over Sassuolo. Milan surged to a four-goal lead by halftime, quashing any hopes of an upset from the Serie B leaders. Fonseca's side eventually triumphed 6-1. The team was efficient at San Siro, scoring six goals from just 1.9 expected goals and hitting the target with eight out of 15 attempts.
Samuel Chukwueze, Davide Calabria, Rafael Leao, Tammy Abraham, and the in-form Tijjani Reijnders all found the net. Fonseca was quick to commend his team's mentality. "We played a great game, magnificent first half, which also helped us manage the players," he told Italian broadcaster Mediaset. "Nothing to say, we played a very serious game. The attitude of the players was very serious and I am satisfied."

Fonseca made eight changes from the lineup that defeated Empoli 3-0 over the weekend. He expressed satisfaction with how the new players performed. "I have always said to have faith in all the players, that's why they all play," Fonseca stated. "Today I'm very pleased because we had players who had played less and who played a magnificent game."
The manager highlighted that these players showed readiness to play consistently. "They told me that they are ready to play all the time. That's what I want to hear," he added. In previous matches, maintaining focus against smaller teams was challenging for Milan.
Fonseca acknowledged past issues with maintaining consistent performance levels against various opponents. While Milan's attitude against top teams has been exemplary, it often faltered against others. However, he noted a change in this match: "That's what we had [on Tuesday]."
This victory not only showcased Milan's depth but also demonstrated their ability to adapt and excel regardless of opponent strength. Such performances will be crucial as they continue their campaign across different competitions.
