Mitrovic's Late Show Clinches Victory For Al-Hilal Over Damac

Aleksandar Mitrovic scored an 84th-minute goal to secure a 3-2 win for Al-Hilal against Damac on Wednesday. Mitrovic, who also scored in first-half stoppage time, ensured Jorge Jesus' team maintained their perfect start to the 2024-25 season with two wins from two matches.

Musab Al Juwayr equalised in the 73rd minute, setting up Mitrovic's late winner. The Serbian striker backheeled the ball into the net from six yards out. Initially disallowed for offside, the goal was awarded after a VAR review. This marked Mitrovic's sixth Pro League double, having also scored twice in Al-Hilal's opening match against Al-Okhdood.

Damac appeared poised for a historic away victory at Al-Hilal when Francois Kamano and Habib Diallo scored early in the second half. However, their hopes were dashed by Al Juwayr's equaliser and Mitrovic's decisive goal.

If Damac had held on, it would have been their 50th Pro League win. Unfortunately, they fell short, continuing coach Cosmin Contra's winless streak against Al-Hilal. Across his tenures with Al-Ittihad and Damac, Contra has faced Al-Hilal six times without securing a victory (D1 L5).

Mitrovic's performance was notable as he brought up his first Pro League goals against Damac after three attempts. His contributions have been crucial for Al-Hilal this season.

The match highlighted Damac's ongoing struggles in securing victories against top-tier teams like Al-Hilal. Despite their efforts, they remain unable to break through under Contra’s leadership.
