Vishal Kaith has been the hero for Mohun Bagan in their last two Durand Cup matches. However, even so, he was recently snubbed from the Indian football team 26-man probable squad for the Tri-Nation Intercontinental Cup preparatory camp announced by the new India team head coach Manolo Marquez.

The squad was announced only a few days ago and these heroics from the Mariners' first-choice goalkeeper certainly shouts that snubbing him from the squad means they're missing out on such a great talent. It is important to remember that the Mariners won the Durand Cup semi-final match against Bengaluru FC.

Hence, the penalty shootout was a battle between the Indian football team's first-choice goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, and Mariners' Vishal Kaith. GSS is an extraordinary player who has helped the Blue Tigers many times so far. That's why, the semi-final win against such an inspirational player holds such importance and sends a strong message.

In the press conference following the match, Vishal spoke about how whatever the situation may be, whether he is playing for the national team or for the club, he's always striving to achieve more and do his best in the process.

The other two goalkeepers selected for the preparatory camp are the current Odisha FC goalkeeper Amrinder Singh and the current East Bengal FC goalkeeper Prabhsukhan Singh Gill. India will face Mauritius and Syria on September 3 and September 9 respectively in their Tri-Nation Intercontinental Cup matches.
