Mohun Bagan handed injury boost ahead of tough match against Odisha FC

Mohun Bagan have been plagued with injuries since the start of the ISL 2022-24 season. In their first match after the international break against East Bengal, Anwar Ali and Brendan Hamill sustained injuries.

Brendan Hamill has now missed three matches for the club. Whereas, Anwar came off the bench in their last match against NorthEast United. However, coach Antonio Habas has provided some good news for the Mohun Bagan faithfuls.

In the press conference ahead of their match against Odisha FC on the road, the coach assured that both players are now fully fit. However, he did not guarantee that any of them would feature in the starting XI.

When asked about Hamill, coach Habas said that he has recovered. Anwar played for a little over 30 minutes in their last game against NorthEast United. The 23-year-old is one of the key players for Mariners' backline.

The coach was asked if Anwar will start the match against Odisha. He said, “Maybe. He's okay, so can play. It's possible.” As of now, the Mariners almost have the entire squad in their hand before they take on Odisha.

This will be a major boost for the Mariners. The only player who is still recovering is Suhail Bhat. The coach updated on his squad saying, “Fortunately, we have no injuries in the team… We have to see Suhail. Rest of the players are okay.”

Mohun Bagan are sitting in 2nd position in the league table with 29 points from 14 matches. They will take on table-toppers Odisha FC on the road. Odisha have 31 points from 15 games and this match will be crucial for both teams.

Since coming back to the second half of the Indian Super League, the Mariners have not lost any game. They will be looking to extend their 4-match unbeaten run. Especially since winning this match will see them jump up to the top of the table.
