Mohun Bagan Outclass BSF 4-0 in Durand Cup, Set Up Group Topper Clash with Diamond Harbour

After Diamond Harbour FC hammered eight goals past BSF, Mohun Bagan added to their misery with a commanding 4-0 win in the Durand Cup at the Kishore Bharati Stadium on Monday.

With this result, BSF have now conceded 12 goals in two matches against Kolkata's heavyweights. Liston Colaco was once again the star for Mohun Bagan, netting a brace, while Manvir Singh and Sahal Abdul Samad chipped in with one goal each.

The game didn't begin smoothly for the Mariners, who survived two early scares. In the very first minute, a mispass from the Mohun Bagan defence gifted BSF's Kishori a shooting opportunity, but his tame effort was easily gathered by Vishal Kaith. A minute later, Deepak Tangri lost possession under pressure, once again presenting Kishori a chance, but he failed to capitalise.

Unease crept in among the home fans, worried about a potential upset. However, Mohun Bagan gradually found their rhythm and began dominating possession. Manvir came close with a powerful shot, only to be denied by BSF goalkeeper Harpreet.

Mohun Bagan's persistence paid off in the 24th minute when Manvir Singh nodded home a cross from Roshan Singh, giving his side a 1-0 lead. Though they dominated the rest of the first half, Bagan couldn't break through again as BSF defended doggedly.

Any hopes of a BSF comeback vanished early in the second half during a ten-minute Mohun Bagan blitz. First, Sahal played a clever one-two with Liston, who drove into the box and finished with a precise low shot. Just five minutes later, Liston dazzled again, weaving past multiple defenders before slotting the ball between the goalkeeper's legs to make it 3-0.

Mohun Bagan's fourth came in the 61st minute. Sahal made an incisive run from the left, rounded the goalkeeper, and shot at goal. Though a BSF defender made a clearance on the line, Mohun Bagan players appealed that the ball had crossed, and the linesman confirmed it as a goal.

Liston had a golden opportunity to complete his hat-trick in the 78th minute but chose to pass to Sahal instead. However, his ball had too much weight, and Sahal couldn't reach it in time.

With this dominant performance, Mohun Bagan now prepare for a high-stakes clash against Diamond Harbour FC that will decide the top spot in Group B.
