Mohun Bagan left the second Kolkata derby of ISL 2023-24 with a 1-3 win and at the top of the Indian Super League table. Even though their performance was not at all impressive in the second half, their amazing first-half performance sealed the win for them.

Including the opposition's players, Dimitri Petratos was the best player on the ground. It wasn't a surprise considering he has been the best player for Mohun Bagan since he joined the Mariners at the start of last season. He scored a goal and provided an assist in the derby.

He scored the third goal for the Mariners and provided the assist for the second goal. He also orchestrated their first goal. Petratos tried scoring from a distance which was saved by Prabhsukhan Gill, but he only punched it near Jason Cummings’ feet from which he scored the opener.

Cummings and Sahal Abdul Samad were similarly effective for the Mariners throughout the game. Liston Colaco bagged the second goal for the Mariners when he positioned himself perfectly near the box. Additionally, he was a constant threat to the East Bengal defense.

Vishal Kaith might have made a mistake in the opening 14 minutes of the game. His clash with East Bengal captain Cleiton Silva resulted in a penalty for the Torch Bearers. However, Vishal saved that penalty and denied East Bengal their early lead.

Had the Torch Bearers gotten that lead, the story of the Kolkata derby could have been different. Additionally, Vishal made several more amazing saves throughout the game and deserves a high rating for that. However, Subhasish Bose, Hector Yuste, and Anwar Ali’s contributions to the defense were also invaluable.

Considering he's not a regular starter, Abhishek Suryavanshi had a decent game. Since coming back to the team Joni Kauko has had an amazing effect. However, the Kolkata derby wasn't his best game. The same goes for Manvir Singh, who wasn't impressive for the Mariners.
