Mohun Bagan Super Giant, one of India's most historic and successful football clubs, has been a prominent participant in the Kalinga Super Cup since its inception.
The tournament, organized by the All India Football Federation (AIFF), serves as the premier knockout tournament for Indian clubs as it gives the winner to compete in AFC competitions.

The Mariners, who just now won a League double- ISL Shield and the ISL Cup are no doubt a dominant force in Indian football. But they are yet to win the Kalinga Super Cup. Here's a look at their performances in the tournament over the years.
In the inaugural 2018 Super Cup, Mohun Bagan began their campaign with a commanding 3-1 victory over Shillong Lajong in the quarter-finals, with goals from SK Faiaz, Nikhil Kadam, and an own goal by Shillong's Laurence Doe. However, their journey ended in the semi-finals, where they faced Bengaluru FC. Despite a brace from Aser Pierrick Dipanda, Mohun Bagan succumbed to a 4-2 defeat, with Bengaluru's Miku scoring a hat-trick and Sunil Chhetri adding another.
Mohun Bagan didn't participate in the 2019 edition and as they were part of the I-League back then, opted out of the tournament as a protest for 'unfair' treatment of the league's teams. From 2020-22 the tournament didn't take place due to COVID-19.
In the 2023 edition, Mohun Bagan started strong with a 5-1 win over Gokulam Kerala FC . However, they couldn't maintain this momentum and were eliminated in the group stage, finishing second in their group.
In the 2024 edition, Mohun Bagan Super Giant was placed in Group A alongside East Bengal FC, Hyderabad FC, and Sreenidi Deccan FC. The team commenced their campaign with a resilient performance against Sreenidi Deccan FC, securing a victory despite being reduced to ten men.
Building on this momentum, they faced Hyderabad FC in their second group match. The Mariners managed to edge past their opponents, marking their second consecutive win in the tournament.
However, their group stage concluded with a challenging match against arch-rivals East Bengal FC. Despite their efforts, Mohun Bagan Super Giant faced a defeat in this encounter.
