Mohun Bagan Rubbishes Rumours of Rift Surrounding Anirudh Thapa

Kolkata giants Mohun Bagan have been making the headlines for quite some time. Be it for the Anwar Ali saga or with the potential chance to buy new foreigners to bolster their attack for the upcoming season.

Despite all the top-notch signings, rumors arose that there is some internal conflict within the club regarding game time. The name of the ace midfielder Anirudh Thapa comes up when the player is worried about his game.

Why is Anirudh Thapa worried?

There have been rumours that claim that the midfielder is worried about his game time after the inclusion of Apuia in the team. The Mariners triggered the release clause of the former Mumbai City FC midfield maestro and landed him in the City of Joy a couple of weeks back.

But MyKhel can confirm that there is no issue with Anirudh Thapa. A senior Mohun Bagan official informed this website that all is well internally with the players. “The reports about Thapa being worried are rubbish. He is currently on vacation in the USA. He will be back in training very soon,” the senior Mohun Bagan official said.

Anwar Ali Saga

On the other hand, the Anwar Ali saga drags on. Initial reports claim that the player has taken his case forward to the Player Status Committee (PSC). The star defender plans to sort out his contract mess soon, so as to resume his play. It remains to be seen where the player pitches his trade in the upcoming season.

“Anwar Ali is our player. We have a contract with him till 2027. He has been centrally registered with the club by the Federation. We have asked him to join training with the youth team from 19th July,” the senior official said.

It remains to be seen as to what happens with the Anwar Ali saga. Meanwhile, the club is currently negotiating a couple of other transfer deals.
