Mohun Bagan Super Giant will try to recreate their last season's heroics under their new name as they kickstart their Indian Super League campaign on September 23.

The Kolkata club are the defending champions and will be hoping to stamp their authority in the new season, as they prepare to retain their league title. They will also have the added booster of winning the Durand Cup recently.

Mohun Bagan has mostly retained their core group of players and head coach Juan Ferrando will be hoping to galvanize his players for an important season this term. They start their campaign at home against Punjab FC, just four days after their AFC Cup tie against Odisha FC.

There have been plenty of incoming for Mohun Bagan in the transfer window as Armando Sadiku, Jason Cummings, Anwar Ali, Anirudh Thapa, Sahal Abdul Samad, and Hector Yuste have joined the club. Many previous season stars like Federico Gallego, Pritam Kotal, Florentin Pogba, and Tiri have also left the club.

With AFC Cup in play, it will be a massive challenge for the Mariners this season. They do have decent squad depth, and will be hoping to conjure up a fantastic season. Among the matches, the Mariners will face arch-rivals East Bengal on October 28, while they take on Bengaluru FC on September 27.
