Mohun Bagan: Sony Norde replies to Dimitri Petratos' tributary celebration

The three amazing Mariners strikers each struck the back of the net and won the match by a 3-0 margin against Jamshedpur FC. Dimitri Petratos opened the scoresheet only 7 minutes into the match. Then Jason Cummings and Armando Sadiku joined.

Scoring the opening goal for Mohun Bagan, added to his signature celebration, Petratos was also seen doing the Sten Gun celebration. It was the same Sten Gun celebration that was signature to former Mariner star Sony Norde.

Dimitri Petratos' tributary celebration caught the attention of the Mariners legend. Both players took to social media to express their respect for each other after the match. Petratos made the statement, “A one time celebration respect for a club legend and fan favourite.”

Sony Norde was quick to acknowledge the tribute to his name. He replied to Petratos saying, “Keep doing your things.” Being a club legend himself, Sony Norde knows consistent performance can win the hearts of the Mariners faithful. Petratos has been a driving force for the Mariners since he joined the club back in the 2022 summer.

His invaluable contributions helped Mohun Bagan win the Indian Super League trophy last season. His performance has been similarly astonishing this season as well. In some games, his performance even led Mohun Bagan to important wins this season.

He also helped them win the Durand Cup this season. He has appeared for 26 games this season throughout all competitions. In that time, he scored 12 times and assisted 5 times. He has already become a fan favourite just like Sony Norde in this little time.

Mohun Bagan are currently in third position in the ISL 2023-24 table, only two points behind table-topper Odisha FC and 2nd-placed Mumbai City FC. Odisha have played two more games and Mumbai have played one more game than the Mariners. Petratos can help the Mariners win the shield.
