As the Indian football season ended, some players have shone brighter than others for their clubs. Dimitri Petratos has been one such star for Mohun Bagan. He was the driving force for the Mariners throughout the season and the fans let him know it.
He has been at the club for only two years and has already become a fan favourite. He is even being compared with other foreigners who previously became club legends, like Odafa and Sony Norde. His words also reveal that he shares a similar love for the Mariners.

Talking to Ray Sportz before leaving for home, Dimitri Petratos talked about what he would do if arch-rivals East Bengal offered him a lot of money to join them. He answered, “The love I got from this [Mohun Bagan] club, after that, I wouldn't even think twice about refusing them even if they offer me a blank cheque.”
He added, “No disrespect to East Bengal. They have a history and a dedicated fanbase. Hopefully they will also do well in the ISL in future but Mohun Bagan is my home. If they [Mohun Bagan] don't release me, I'm not leaving them.”
Considering he's the ace for the Mariners, they have plans of extending his contract. However, several clubs in the league are still interested in the player and could offer him a lot of money for a move. Hence, fans should be glad to know that he's not planning on a move.
Since joining Mohun Bagan in 2022, Petratos scored most goals in the league in both seasons. He won the Golden Boot in ISL 2023-24 but missed it to Diego Mauricio in ISL 2022-23 as the Odisha FC forward took lesser minutes to score the same amount of goals.
His playmaking from a deeper position also helps him set his teammates up for superb goals. He bagged 7 assists last season and 11 assists this season for the Mariners throughout all competitions. His vision and intelligence on the field has helped Mariners attack from tough spaces and find the back of the net several times.
